July 1 2026:
Visa Income Threshold Increases – Regional Visas
1 July 2026: Employers sponsoring workers under the Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) or Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme) visas should note an important change to the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT).
What has changed
The TSMIT has increased from $76,515 to $79,423, applying to nomination applications lodged between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. It will be indexed every year.
What this means for your nominations
To satisfy the TSMIT requirement, both the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) for the nominated position and the worker’s guaranteed annual earnings must meet or exceed $79,423 at the time of lodgement.
Nominations lodged before 1 July 2026 continue to be assessed against the previous threshold of $76,515. Existing visa holders are not affected.
What employers should do next
If you have a Subclass 494 in preparation, we recommend reviewing your salary packaging against the new threshold before lodgement. A remuneration package that satisfied the TSMIT in June 2026 may no longer be sufficient from July 2026.
