Key Details

The Migration (Arrival Control) Determination 2026 applies to Subclass 600 visa holders who used a passport issued by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The restrictions are effective from 26 March 2026 and will remain in place for six months.

Certain exemptions apply, including:

  • Spouse, de facto partner, or dependent child of an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Parent of a child under 18 in Australia
  • Individuals already in Australia when the Determination commenced
  • Those issued a Permitted Travel Certificate (PTC)

Permitted Travel Certificate (PTC)

A PTC allows certain individuals to travel despite the restrictions. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and can be submitted via the Department of Home Affairs’ Arrival Control Determination portal.

If you or your clients are affected, early assessment and planning is critical. Acting now can help navigate these restrictions smoothly and minimise disruption.
