June 20 2023:
Are you ready for the 1 July visa law changes? Here are some ideas.
Immigration law changes are anticipated from 1 July 2023. Here are some ideas to prepare:
- IMMI Visa application charges will increase 1 July, by at least 6% + CPI. Consider lodging before 30 Jun 2023 to avoid fee increase.
- TSMIT (temporary skills migration income threshold) will increase from guaranteed earnings AUD53,900 to AUD70,000. Consider lodging before 30 June to avoid TSMIT increase. Contact us if you have any questions about this.
- The #Superannuation Guarantee (#SG) will increase from 10.5% to 11%. Guaranteed earnings EXCLUDE superannuation, so do ensure the increase is reflected appropriately for your Subclass 482 visa population. This is particularly important to employers who offer a “salary package”. Contact us if you have any questions about this.
- Unrestricted (full-time) #workrights or #Studentvisa holders will cease 1 July. Consider a more stable visa, such as a Subclass 482 visa, to permit full-time hours.
- Part-time work rights for student visa holders will increase from 40 hours to 48 hours per fortnight [#agedcare sector is exempt]
- Unrestricted / Flexible work rights for Working Holiday Makers (#WHMs) will cease.
- Consider a more stable visa, such as a Subclass 482 visa, to permit full-time hours for a period longer than 6 months.
- SC 408 visa….may….cease…. consider other options!
- Now is great time to review your workforce to minimise disruptions to your business operations
