Changes to Labour Market Testing for Work Visas

Legislation passed 8 December 2023 amends Labour Market Testing for work visas to reduce the compliance burden faced by employers regarding LMT advertising:

1. Removing the requirement for an employer to advertise a position on the Workforce Australia website;

2. Employers only required to post 2 adverts;

3. Clarifying how the duration of advertising is determined, especially concerning overlapping adverts.

Exemptions to LMT under international trade obligations remain.
