September 16 2024:
India joins Australia’s Work and Holiday Visa Program

In the context of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), Australia will permit 1,000 young Indian citizens each year to obtain a Subclass 462 (Work and Holiday) visa.

The Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa is a visa program between Australia and reciprocating countries, designed to enhance the exchange between young Australians and others, to enhance cultural exchange. Applicants from India must be Indian citizens, be aged between 18 and 30, and have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary study.

The visa is valid for 1 year and permits the visa holder to undertake short-term work and study while holidaying in Australia.

Due to the anticipated high demand, the visa program for Indian citizens will be via a ballot process. Interested applicants are required to participate in a pre-application process, pay an AUD25 administration fee and if selected, then apply for the visa.
