Northern Territory – DAMA III
The Northern Territory is supporting employers in filling their skilled and semi-skilled vacant positions. A 2025 Northern Territory Designated Area Migration Agreement (NT DAMA III) now applies across the entire NT, becoming a valuable tool in employers’ recruitment strategy.
This updated agreement, DAMA III provides:
- an expanded list of 325 occupations, covering both semi-skilled and skilled roles.
- more nomination places for employers.
- streamlined application processes to make it easier for NT businesses to hire.
NT employers can use DAMA III to sponsor overseas workers for jobs they can’t fill with local talent.

Examples of eligible occupations under DAMA III include the following : hairdressers, drivers, health workers, ICT, telecommunications, hospitality, construction, trades and many more. Access the current list of occupations here.
Businesses can access the NT DAMA if they are actively operating in the NT, and are financially viable and have been operating for at least 12 months; have no history of not meeting its obligations to employees; are looking to employ overseas workers to fill full-time positions with duties that align with one of the occupations on the NT DAMA list; can demonstrate they cannot fill the position locally with an Australian citizen or permanent resident; and can provide terms and conditions of employment to overseas workers that are in accordance with those offered to Australian workers employed in the region.
